Plans for 13 new homes in village

-

PLANS have been lodged to knock down a house in Burbage and build 13 new properties on the long rear garden.

The proposals, submitted by Ms J Perrin and Mr A Malin, would see access off Coventry Road where number 65 once stood to a collection of, three, four and five bedroom homes fronting a private drive.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council planning committee members will determine the fate of the application at a future meeting.

In support of the scheme a report states: “The development of the site will bring additional housing to the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth and to Burbage itself, also bringing forward much needed affordable housing for the village.

“The occupation of the site by an additional number of families would bring further prosperity to Burbage through seeking of employment together with the significant, though short-term, employment involved in the construction of the dwellings for the period during which this was undertaken. The land use is currently residential and has been since 1988.”

While mainly two-storey buildings are planned the applicants are not ruling out three storey struc- tures, possibly making use of roof space.

These details would be brought forward at a later stage if the development on the 0.5 hectare plot was approved.

Appropriate car parking is proposed within the curtilage of each dwelling providing off-street parking on the basis of two spaces for houses with up to three bedrooms and three spaces for dwellings of four or more bedrooms.

Anyone with a view on the application is invited to comment and can do so online via the council’s website or in person at the Hinckley Hub.
