Classes for all at annual show

-

THERE’S still time for green-fingered folk to prepare their fruit and veg for a horticultural show in Desford.

The second annual Desford Community Produce Show will be held at Desford Church Centre on Main Street on Sunday September 4.

The event, run by Desford Allotment Garden Association, seeks to encourage people to grow their own as well as show off creative talents.

A range of classes are offered to competitors including the traditional biggest vegetable and most fabulous floral spots along with photography and crafts.

This year the photography category is brought bang up to date with a prize for the best digital sketch, drawing or painting created using any electronic media device.

The unusual classes continue with a men and boys only baking contest using a specific recipe for a lemon drizzle cake as well as classes for children and teens seeking out the best edible pizza face, tallest sunflower and prettiest fruit and veg necklace, best decorated cupcake and short digital recording featuring fruit and veg.

Preserves and wine makers can also showcase their talents with entries costing £2 for adults and free for students and under 18s.

The show opens to the public at 1pm after judging and trophies are being presented at 4.30pm. For more information email desfordshow@gmail.com or call John on 07966 276784 or Allen on 07709 034410. Also visit www.dga.org.uk or the show’s Facebook page.
