Lunchtime music in town church

-

AN AUTUMN season of lunchtime concerts is to be held in Hinckley’s parish church.

St Mary’s Arts (Smarts) has arranged a series of four daytime recitals to be held in St Mary’s Church in the town centre on September 7, October 5, November 2 and December 7.

Each will run from 1pm until 1.45pm, giving people the chance to enjoy a performance in a lunch hour.

The recitals will feauture familiar and easy-listening classical music performed to the highest standards by experienced and often internationally renowned musicians and vocalists.

September’s offering will be a piano trio from Birmingham Conservatoire, October will see pianist Stephen Waterhouse take to the keyboard, in November soprano Georgina Stalbow and pianist Julian Hellaby will perform and December will see the Dixie Grammar School orchestra from Market Bosworth take to the stage.

Admission to each concert is £4 on the door for adults and £1 for children or a season ticket can be bought at September’s performance for £14.

Smarts chairman Philip Worley said: “We welcome people to enjoy these informal concerts in the beautiful setting of Hinckley’s medieval parish church, with light classical music performed to the highest standards.”

Hot drinks are available at the church coffee bar and people are invited to take along their own packed lunch.
