Records set at Dixie for top A-levels

-

A RECORD-BREAKING 34% of A-levels awarded to students at The Dixie Grammar School this year are at A* and A grades.

Teachers have labelled the results as ‘fantastic’ with the teenagers leaving the Market Bosworth independent school ‘assured of a bright future ahead’.

Figures also show a steady increase in pupils reaching the top grades A*-C up to 85% this year from 78% in 2014. Some 8% of results came in at A* while 62% were at A*-B grades.

It means places at top universities across the country for the proud pupils. After gaining straight A and A* grades Edward Platts, will now read Chinese at The Queen’s College, Oxford.

Richard Wilkinson, with two A* and two A grades, will be reading law at Birmingham University and Adam McGrath, this year’s head boy, with two A* grades and one A grade, heads to Imperial College London to read chemistry.

Nikita Sall, Jimmy Webster and Liban Warsame also achieved a clean sweep of top grades while mention must also be made of Amy Hemsworth who, at the age of just 15, has received grade A in her English language A-level.

Richard Lynn, headteacher at Dixie, said: “These results reflect a great deal of hard work by both our talented young adults and our dedicated teachers. However, it is not always the highest grades that represent the greatest achievement and we are proud of the very many students who have met or exceeded their own expectations.

“Examination results alone fail to take account of the personal qualities, employability and leadership skills on which we place such emphasis at Dixie and which our Upper Sixth students have in abundance.

“We do not just measure our success by the academic, or even by our recent outstanding inspection report – all those who have taught the impressive young men and women who now join our alumni feel a real sense of pride in both their achievements and their dedication.”
