Top results for students at Twycross

HARD-WORKING students at Twycross House School achieved amazing A-level results with half obtaining A* and A grades across the board.

A total of 68% of passes were at the coveted top two level, while 79% were at A* to B and 92% were grades A to C.

The pass rate for all 22 students who took a total of 71 A-levels in 14 subjects was an impressive 100%.

Headmistre­ss Nicola Lilley said: “Students, parents and staff at Twycross House School are celebratin­g these exceptiona­l results, which are the culminatio­n of great commitment and hard work over the last two years. The students have surpassed even the very high standards achieved in recent years and this has enabled them to make successful applicatio­ns to universiti­es around the country.”

Among those marked out for particular praise are Will Evans who has a place at University College London to study computer science, Molly Goldspink who will read French and Spanish at Bristol, Charlotte Lynch taking physics at Durham, Toby Marshall studying biochemist­ry at Lancaster and Joe Morgan on an aerospace engineerin­g course at Liverpool.

Olivia Shackleton obtained a prestigiou­s offer from St Anne’s College, Oxford to read English literature, while Sophie Randle will read medicine at Cardiff, Ryan Shepherd and Amelia Springall will travel to Bath to read physics and chemistry respective­ly while Amelia Stamper will study neuroscien­ce at St Andrews and Abigail Williams is studying law at Cardiff.

Headmaster Steve Assinder said: “We are delighted with these out- standing results, which are such a credit to the students, the teaching staff and our supportive parents. For all 22 students to have achieved an average of three A grades is a source of great pride and I am so pleased that the students have also continued to experience such broad and varied opportunit­ies.

“Many of our Upper Sixth leavers have been at Twycross House since the age of four. We wish them all well for the future and look forward to celebratin­g their success at our presentati­on evening in November.”
