Musicals to be retold in stage show of faith
Performers to mix the West End with Christianity
WEST END performers will be taking centre stage at a church in Hinckley to a put on a musical show with a difference.
West End Has Faith - Musicals Retold features cast members from some of the biggest shows currently running in the capital, performing hit numbers interspersed with personal Christian testimonies and re-tellings of Biblical parables and psalms.
It will be staged at St John’s Church on Coventry Road on Saturday September 24 from 7.30pm.
Star of the show will be singer Katy Treharne, who has played the central role of Christine in Phantom of the Opera and has toured with Only Men Aloud.
Also appearing will be Irene Rhodes, a finalist for Team Will.I.am on The Voice UK 2016, who has appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar, The King and I and Miss Saigon, among others.
The show, which features songs from Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Wicked and more, was first performed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
According to its promoters: “West End Has Faith gathers professionals working within London’s West End and on tour who have a desire to share their journey and life experiences.”
They say the aim of the show is “to share our faith, spread the gospel, and to be an outreach of support to those in need within the theatre industry.
“Our show brings testimony, and the retelling of parables and psalms with the added freshness of well-loved musical theatre song.”
