Medal haul for successful club

BURBAGE Tae Kwon Do Club has scooped a series of medals in its latest competitio­ns.

The club won 24 medals in the Welsh Open Championsh­ips, British Championsh­ips, Holland Cup and The London Open Championsh­ips.

In the Welsh Open, Danielle Williams took gold in sparring and power, while Niamh Connolly won silver in patterns and bronze in sparring.

Max Welch finished runner-up in the Holland Cup patterns.

At the British Championsh­ips, Danielle Williams took gold in power and bronze in sparring, Max Welch earned double gold in patterns and sparring, Brook Ryde won gold in sparring and Adam Kelly took told in patterns and bronze in sparring.

Ian Frisby finished runner-up in patterns and won bronze in sparring, his relative Bethany won bronze in sparring and silver in patters, Ethan Bailey-White took silver in sparring, as did Niamh Connolly.

Meanwhile Luke Short won double silver in sparring, Neil Fieldsend also took silver in sparring and Harry Hayes finished third in patterns.

Finally at the London Open Championsh­ips, Max Welch added to his tally with another gold in sparring and a bronze in patterns.

Three members have been selected by ITF England to represent their country at the Junior and Veteran World Championsh­ips in Italy - Lyn Talbott, the ladies team captain, Brooke Ryde, the junior girls vice captain) and Ian Frisby.
