Adult cycling course at County Hall
LEICESTERSHIRE County Council is appealing to wouldbe cyclists who have been inspired by Team GB’s extraordinary performance at the Rio Olympics to get involved in adult cycling courses.
The council is offering residents the opportunity to sign up to their latest adult cycle training course, which begins this Saturday at County Hall in Glenfield.
The course will consist of two hour sessions across five Saturdays, in which qualified instructors will teach residents cycle skills, give road safety advice and help to build confidence in travelling on two wheels.
The adult cycle training courses are part of the Choose How Your Move initiative, a partnership project between Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council which aims to educate residents and visitors about the various travel options that are available to them across the county.
Alongside its social benefits, cycling regularly can improve health, help to save money and is more environmentally friendly than travelling by car.
Councillor Peter Osborne, county council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Cycling is a great way to travel around Leicestershire and these courses play an important role in giving people the confidence and skills when cycling on roads.
“Many residents who have already completed previous courses are now seeing that getting around by bike is one of the best ways to travel.
“I would encourage residents who are interested to sign up and experience the benefits that cycling regularly can provide for themselves.”
The course is open to anyone over the age of 16, irrespective of skill level, and costs £50 per person.
