I am dismayed at the way council ignores the pedestrians

-

BEFORE I leave for Blackpool to see the illuminations and prepare for the two events which attract many people to Hinckley namely the 9th Beer Festival organised by Hinckley and Bosworth CAMRA and the classic car exhibition the same weekend, I would like to express my dismay as to how the pedestrian has been completely ignored by our council.

As people may know I love to walk in as many areas as possible, this time of year in particular when the weather has been so good. I collect a few boxes of blackberries in various areas.

On Monday I passed over the railway bridge from Parsons Lane and entered Southfield Road where a cycle path signs confused me walking towards town.

I continued walking along and was met with numerous cars all half on the pavement and on the opposite side of the road many parked totally on the pavement.

Apart from such obstacles there were hedgerows, bins and it would have been impossible for a pram, pushchair or cycle to say on the pavement.

This of course is only one area I have walked and I realise that if all motorists left their cars in the road it would make it almost impossible for traffic to move freely.

I don’t expect any council to solve this town’s problems as even as I write the bulldozers are preparing another lot of flats opposite Station View and there is only one way out of there. Mind the traffic.
