THE FINAL round of the Higham Lane Fishery Summer League was won in convincing style by the in-form Alan Grewcock.

Alan pole fished sweetcorn close in along the bank to land some big fish in a 103lb 9oz winning catch. Dennis Beecham finished second with 86lb 11oz with league organiser Dean Hughes taking third place with 82lb 3oz. League winner was Andy Findley, Alan Grewcock finished second while Jim Spradbury came third.

The first leg in the annual challenge contest between Lychgate Fisheries and the Lincolnshi­re-based Rushfield Lakes side was a tight affair. Fished at Lychgate’s Stoke Golding water the home side took the honours - just - finishing with 77 points and a team weight of 361lb 6oz to Rushfield’s 79 points and a combined weight of 323lb. In a match where the top six all weighed more than 40lb, it was Rushfield’s Mark Sidwells who took the individual glory, weighing 89lb 12oz. Suzi Smith was best for the home side fin- ishing second with a 73lb 2oz catch. Third place went to Rushfield’s Shaun Moss with 53lb 2oz.

The Plough Angling Club’s sixth aggregate contest was fished on a rising River Avon at Ryton. Barwell’s Colin Saunders boosted his catch with a superb small river barbel weighing 6lb 2oz. This gave him a match-winning 9lb 3oz total. Alan Brown came second with 5lb 6oz. Ian Stringfell­ow was third with a 4lb 6oz catch.

There’s no stopping Alan Grewcock, who continued his recent good form by winning Maynes Lakes midweek open match. On Pool 1 Alan pole fished corn in the margin to finish with a 56lb 12oz catch. Brookfield­s Sunday open match was won by David Sutton with a 51lb 4oz catch. Stu Campton came second with 31lb 10oz with Bob Rest finishing third with a 24lb 8oz catch.

The fourth round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series was fished along the Monthills length of canal at Shackersto­ne. Andy Morton caught 8lb 12oz of bream and tench to win. Pete Billington finished second with 4lb 3oz of small bream. Doug Dimbleby weighed 2lb 6oz of small roach to take third place. At the halfway stage in the league Andy Morton leads with 13 points.

Rich Wells won his second successive Lychgate Fisheries midweek open. Fishing the margins produced a match winning 64lb 10oz catch for the Margin Master!

Dobber Dale pole fished pellet to finish second with 51lb 6oz. Bruce Robinson came third with 48lb taken on pellet feeder tactics.

Mill on the Soar’s Tuesday open match was won by legendary feeder expert Tom Watt. Tom fished a pellet feeder tight to the far bank to catch 28lb 5oz of mainly carp. Mick Linnett came second, weighing 19lb 10oz. Paul Cayliss was third with 13lb 10oz.

Higham Lane’s Thursday open match was won by Ricky Arms with a 76lb 11oz catch. Barry Jaques came second with 66lb 3oz with Herb Albert taking third place with 64lb 7oz.

Shackersto­ne’s open match was fished along the Hags Lane length. Kev Milne pole fished worm to catch 3lb 12oz of small bream to win. Rob Bream weighed 2lb 8oz of small roach and bream to take second place. Wayne Nickson finished third with a 2lb 4oz catch.

Higham Lane Fishery have an open match this Thursday, draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an open match on Saturday, draw 9am.

The fifth round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series takes place this Saturday. Draw 1pm at the Globe, Snarestone.

Brookfield have an open match at Stoke Golding this Sunday, draw 9am.

Measham hold their open pairs contest this Sunday, draw 8am at the Globe.

Mill on the Soar have an open match every Tuesday. Draw 8.30am.

Maynes Lakes have an open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an open match every Wednesday, draw 9am.
