Teens to test their skills in The Crystal Maze
QUICK-THINKING teens are being invited to pit their wits against intellectual conundrums in a Crystal Maze-themed event at the weekend.
St Francis Community Centre on Tudor Road will be hosting the free games challenge for young people this Sunday from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Free to any 12 to 18-year-olds, the event, based on the hit Channel 4 TV show from the 1990s, is being run by a Christian group called Infuse Youth Celebrations.
The minister of Higham Way Baptist Church, the Rev Jon Grant, who has been involved with Infuse for the past three years, said: “Infuse Youth Celebrations is committed to doing church in a more contemporary style to allow young people between the ages of 12-18 to explore their faith.
“This year we are running several social evenings aimed at young people in the local area to promote the group and interest in it.
“The first of these will be The Crystal Maze.
“It is totally free of charge and we would love Christian and non Christian young people to attend.”
At its height, The Crystal Maze was the most popular programme on Channel 4, regularly drawing in between four and six million viewers.
Under the gaze of Rocky Horror Picture Show creator Richard O’Brien, contestants raced in teams against the clock around themed zones where they competed in tense challenges.
