HINCKLEY’S Ashby Canal legend Doug Dimbleby took the honours in the seventh Round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series.

Fished on the Globe length of the canal at Snarestone, Doug pole fished bread punch for an all roach catch weighing 2lb 14oz.

Runner-up Kev Milne was next to Doug, and used his normal worm tactic to catch a zander of 1lb 8oz and some perch to finish just short with 2lb 10oz. Pete Wytchley was third with a 1lb 12oz catch. With just one round to go Andy Morton leads with 18 points, Kev Milne has 13 points and Alan Dixon has 12.

Saturday’s Higham Lane contest produced a runaway win for Kev Winfield. Kev fished the open water to land a 105lb 11oz winning catch. Dean Hughes finished second with 48lb 11oz on pellet feeder tactics with Dave Hurlston taking third place with 45lb 9oz.

Suzi Smith scored yet another win, taking the honours in Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday open. Suzi used her favourite pellet feeder method to land 83lb 8oz of mainly carp. Andy Findley landed just five carp which weighed 47lb 12oz to finish second. Ian Shirley came third with 36lb 12oz while Paul Bates finished fourth with 36lb 2oz.

The was another win in the Maynes Lakes midweek open for the in form Alby Beehl who again used sweetcorn baits to finish with a 39lb catch of carp. Results, Pool One; 1st Alby Behl. 2nd; John Baughan, 35lb. 3rd; George Beasley, 29lb. Pool Two; 1st, Colin Bent 24lb. 2nd; Tony Simonetti, 18lb 4oz. 3rd; Alan Wilson, 12lb.

Shackersto­ne’s Members Waring Cup match was fished along Hags Lane with Andy Morton taking the honours with a 1lb 15oz catch. Hubert Noar weighed 1lb 13oz of small roach to take second with Ian Plant including a 1lb 8oz zander in his 1lb 11oz catch for third.

Higham Lane Fishery Thursday open was won by Tony Cuppleditc­h with a 62lb catch. Andy Stewart came second with 54lb 11oz and Ricky Arms finished third with 48lb 9oz.

There was a disappoint­ing start to Plough Angling Club’s winter series with catches at an all time low. With the river low and clear Ian Stringfell­ow and Alan Brown tied for top spot with just 1lb 3oz. Third place went to George Howe with a level 1lb.

Mick Linnett won the Mill on the Soar open for the second successive match. Mick pole fished pellet to finish with 32lb 8oz. Tom Watt came second with a 27lb catch of carp while Paul Cayless took third place with 16lb 12oz.

When Suzi Smith drew the same peg in Lychgate’s Saturday open that she had won from on Wednesday, anglers feared the worst, and sure enough Suzi completed the double winning with a 65lb 4oz catch. Steve White took second place with 35lb 10oz. Dom Lanni came third with 24lb 14oz.

Higham Lane Fishery have an open match every Thursday, draw 9am.

The final round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series takes place this Saturday. Draw 1pm at the Rising Sun, Shackersto­ne.

Lychgate Fisheries have open matches on Saturday and Sunday. Draw 9am on Saturday. Check with Paul for draw time Sunday.

Higham Lane Fishery start their popular winter Saturday opens this week. Draw 9am.

Brookfield have an open match at Stoke Golding on Sunday, draw 9am.

Shackersto­ne have an open match on the canal this Sunday. Draw 8am at the Rising Sun.

Mill on the Soar have an open match every Tuesday, draw 8.30am.

Maynes Lakes have an open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.
