Leamington not able to spar with Hinckley

HINCKLEY Ladies A team overcame Leamington C on Saturday with a convincing 58-49 victory.

Hinckley started confidentl­y and controlled the match through a steady attacking game, ending the first quarter 15-12.

Multiple intercepti­ons during the second quarter by goal defence Kate Chamberlai­n and wing attack Ashleigh Oakes meant Hinckley kept the pressure on a tough Leamington side, ending the second quarter level on 30-30.

Half-time involved a position reshuffle and saw Bec Mayfield move from wing defence to goal attack.

Hinckley’s dynamic shooting duo continued to widen the goal gap and the team went into the fourth quarter 47-37 ahead.

The team continued to control the game to finish on 58-49, with Ashley Oakes voted player of the match.

Hinckley’s B team got off to a slow start against Alec High and found themselves trailing from the off.

They managed to stage a comeback in the final quarter, but it was too late and the game ended 30-26.

Player of the match went to goal attack Darcey Arrowsmith.

Hinckley C also lost to Ambleside F by two goals at the weekend.

Hinckley were trailing at half-time and fought hard to try and get the upper hand, but couldn’t deficit.

The game finished 36-38 to Ambleside and player of the match went to centre Jess Rainbow.

Meanwhile Hinckley D produced a strong defensive performanc­e to seal a convincing victory.

Player of the match went to Bethany Willars.

The F team started nervously for their debut match against Rugby Railway D and lost 45-23.

They managed to regain some confidence after going 12-2 down in the first quarter, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Player of the match was goalkeeper Jodie Smith. turnover the
