RE STUDIOS 1 continue to set the pace in Division One of the Hinckley Table Tennis League, easily defeating Nalgo by nine sets to one with Pete White collecting the solitary one for Nalgo.

This victory was followed by another fine win over George Ward B also by nine sets to one. Both Andy Spring and Mark Raynor were unbeaten for RE with Clive Stretton taking George Ward’s only victory. This result puts RE Studios 1 at the top of the table with 30 points from four matches.

Goons, last season’s runners-up, took first blood in their rivalry with George Ward A, defeating them by eight sets to two. Jason Woodfield for Goons was impressive for his three and he was well backedup by team-mates Ian Wetherby and Harry White both with two sets each.

The usually reliable Mark Perkins dropped two of his three for George Ward A almost as many sets as he lost all last season. Goons, having done the hard work almost gave it all away with a shock defeat at the hands of the improving Barlestone A. Despite a fine maximum from Lucky Obi they were well beaten by six sets to four.

Father and son Russ and Adam Pettitt did the damage with two wins each. Barlestone A go to third in the table.

George Ward A bounced back from their defeat to Goons with a convincing win over Cat B, eight sets to two. Mark Perkins was back on form with a good three wins.

George Ward B had a good win over Hugglescot­e Rams running out the victors by seven sets to three. Barry Taylor of the Rams took his three while Bob Whittaker, Richard Chesters and Clive Stretton from George Ward all won two each.

The Rams came back to form in their next match taking a comprehens­ive victory over Queen’s C by seven sets to three. Both Kieran Storer and Eileen Shaler scoring impressive maximums for the away team.

Nalgo came back from their defeat at the hands of RE Studios 1 to overwhelm Barlestone B nine sets to one. Both Steve Tandy who was man of the match and Dave Daniels were undefeated.
