Village neighbourhood plan to last 18 years

-

WORK continues on the preparation of a community plan which will help guide development in Stoke Golding.

Local clubs and societies, businesses, doctors and landowners have all been emailed calling for thoughts on what should go into the village’s neighbourhood plan.

The results will feed into the document destined to give residents a greater say about what goes where in terms of housing, industry and infrastructure growth.

While views are being sought the advisory committee, planners and parish council have been debating how far ahead the blueprint should cover.

A spokesman said: “There were two main options, to run it until the end of the borough council’s current core plan in 2026 or to take it to the end of the next core plan in 2036. We have decided that the plan should last until 2036.

“While there are pros and cons to each, we felt that providing we modify the plan to keep it in step with planning guidance and laws in the future then it could be run until 2036.

“This would mean that only modifications would be needed, rather than fully re-running the process to create a new neighbourhood plan.

“Our plan would still be in place, while Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council develops their new core plan, giving protection to Stoke Golding’s wishes in the interim.

Finally we expect our neighbourhood plan to be accepted in 2018 and so to run it until 2026 would only give it eight years of life.”

The committee are currently seeking volunteers to help out at future community interaction events. Anyone who can help should contact Jim Hope on sgnpjimhope@btinternet.com
