Sparkling new sign for Concordia Theatre

-

VISITORS to the Concordia theatre will have stars in their eyes from now on thanks to a striking new sign funded by a long-term supporter.

Martin Rumble Vauxhall dealership in Nuneaton has paid for the design, creation and installation of the new, highlevel sign on the side of the Stockwell Head building in Hinckley.

The dealership has also agreed to cover any maintenance costs that might accrue in the next few years.

The sign has an eye-catching background in shades of blue, studded with gold stars, the words Concordia Theatre in capital letters and two theatrical masks - representing comedy and tragedy - in shades of gold.

A sponsorship slogan below credits the dealership which is based on Eliot Business Park, next to George Eliot Hospital.

Family firm Martin Rumble has also sponsored Concordia shows and supported the community theatre by placing adverts in programmes.

Aftersales assistant manager Simon Rumble, Martin Rumble’s son, said: “We are proud to support the Concordia Theatre.

“It is a fantastic venue run entirely by volunteers and we are pleased we could help them out by organising a replacement new sign.

“We wish them every success for the future and their up and coming shows.”

The previous sign, which theatre trustees said had been getting “tattier and tattier” simply bore the words Concordia Theatre with the dramatic masks in red and blue, on a plain white background.

Judy Peatfield from the theatre said: “They came to us as a group of trustees and said ‘would you be interested in a new sign?’ and obviously we were.

“We worked with them on the design and have a contract for the next five years.

“For a group of volunteers, as we are, it’s fantastic.”
