Store marks first year with a win
SHOPPING in Hinckley has been transformed since Sainsbury’s opened its doors at The Crescent one year ago - and staff there are celebrating its first anniversary with the ultimate accolade.
The town centre supermarket has been named Sainsbury’s regional store of the year, claiming the title above 64 other Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the East Midlands.
It now goes forward as a nominee for the best Sainsbury’s store in the country, flying the flag for Hinckley’s new development as the town’s traditional shop- ping centre is doing in the national Great British High Street contest.
Store manager John Davies said: “Wow! What a fantastic first 12 months.
“Myself and my team at Sainsbury’s Hinckley have been made to feel very welcome by the whole town in our first year and the support we have received is really appreciated.
“I would like to thank our customers and my amazing team of managers and colleagues the majority of whom joined Sainsbury’s for the opening.”
The store is one of the biggest employers in the town, with 190 members of staff - aged from 16 to 65 - many recruited from around the town and borough.
Its regional title was awarded in rec- ognition of the “excellent customer service and standards” that have been a standout feature of the store since it opened on November 4 2015.
A plaque to mark the achievement was presented to members of staff at an awards ceremony and later shared with other colleagues in the town store’s cafe.
Store manager John Davies said: “I am really proud of all our colleagues.
“This is a fantastic achievement for the store to have accomplished within our first year of opening.”
Sales figures show that the flagship Sainsbury’s store has sold no fewer than 100,000 items of women’s clothing and 22,500 items of stationery in its first 12 months of trading.
