Trio dazzle at East Midlands competitio­n

THREE gymnasts from a Hinckley club have been crowned champions at an East Midlands competitio­n.

Mia Hancox, Molly Carey and Leah Parkins, from Hinckley and Burbage Gymnastics Club, have been named East Midlands all-around victors.

The trio all took first place in their respective age groups, while clubmates Ellie Grassby, Amy Stuckey, and Charlotte Law also performed well.

Hancox won the level five (age eight) all around after finishing first on the bars and third on both the vault and beam.

In level two (age 14-plus), Carey was triumphant after a first on the beam, second on the bars and third on the floor.

Stuckey was behind her in second overall after fin- ishing first on the floor, second on both the vault and beam, and third on the bars.

Parkins won the senior challenge after taking first on the beam, second on the bars and third on the floor.

Law was overall runnerup after finishing second on the bars and beam, and third on the vault.

A club spokesman said: “Congratula­tions to all the gymnasts who competed, it has been a fantastic day for the club and for the girls.

“Special well done goes to Mia, Molly and Leah for becoming East Midlands all-around champions, and so winning many shields and a trophy.

“Many thanks to all at the club who have helped to make this possible.”
