Santa ready to tour streets

-

SANTA and his merry band of helpers will be visiting the children of Hinckley from Friday.

Hinckley Round Table will be taking to the streets of the town with their famous Santa’s sleigh, ready to spread some festive cheer.

The sleigh will kickstart festivities on Friday with a trip to The Greens on Bradgate Road. On Saturday, the sleigh will be outside the former Co-op building on Castle Street. These are just two of several locations that the sleigh will visit this Christmas, with a full route planner available on the Hinckley Santa website.

The Hinckley Round Table Santa’s Sleigh was started 50 years ago this year by past members and was the first charity sleigh to travel the streets of the town.

Thanks to the sleigh, the Round Table is able to give away thousands of pounds to local good causes within the Hinckley area.

One of the Round Table volunteers said: “We all love to go out for a drink, but you know you have earned it after you have spent two hours each night, collecting money with your mates in all the local villages, helping Santa raise thousands of pounds to help local good causes and putting a big smile on the kids’ faces. It gives you the best feeling.”

This year, Hinckley’s Round Table has supported various charities and organisations such as AGE UK Leicestershire, Hinckley Homeless Shelter, Sapcote Scout Group, Hinckley Air Cadets and the local Hinckley Town Centre Defibribulator project.
