New tea room opens its doors

-

CAKE lovers searching for a decadent treat this Christmas are being urged to visit Hinckley’s brand new tea rooms.

The family-run Star Tea Rooms, tucked away in Hansom Court, opened just last week, and has a range of mouth-watering goodies on the menu, as well as festive afternoon teas launching at the start of December.

Customers can tuck into delights such as chocolate and peanut butter cakes, Victoria sponges, carrot cakes or a classic cream tea.

There are also mince pies for Christmas, while freshly-made paninis, homemade soups and breakfast bites, which include pancakes and bacon sandwiches, are also being dished up at the new venue.

The tea rooms is run by husband and wife team Sally and Pete Stapleton, and has been opened on the site of the old Dolly’s Tea Shoppe.

Mother-of-two Sally, who also runs Star Tea Parties, said that they were “excited” by the new opportunity.

She added: “It’s been great so far. We’ve had lots of positive comments and it’s just trying to get people to notice we’re here, since Dolly’s was closed for so long.

“We were an afternoon tea business, taking them to homes and venues, but we came across this place and we wanted to go there for ages. However, it then closed, and everything was left as it was - it just seemed perfect for us.

“We love being here and it’s amazing to see Hinckley growing and coming on so much - it’s a lovely place to be!”
