THE FIRST phase of a major new development featuring 4,250 homes, two schools, a business estate and country park has been unveiled.

‘New Lubbesthorpe’ in Blaby will create a town sandwiched between the M1, M69 and Leicester Forest East.

Barratt has just opened two show homes on the initial sector of the scheme giving potential buyers an early glimpse of the properties soon to become available.

A range of two, three, four and five bedroom houses are being constructed with show homes focusing on the three/four bed- room Faversham and the three bed Brentwood style.

A third show home will launch in January.

Leader of Blaby District Council, Councillor Terry Richardson was on hand to cut the ribbon opening the show home.

He said: “It is great to be here to see the first homes at New Lubbesthorpe. This development is a potential model for future schemes and demonstrates how by working proactively together we can ensure the best housing and infrastructure is provided for our future residents. Local people will soon be able to see this new community coming together and I’m sure they will be pleased with the results.”

Richard Brooke, regional managing director for Barratt Homes added: “This is a significant milestone in the progress of this major development, which is a true partnership between land owner, local authority and developer and we were delighted that Cllr Richardson was able to mark the official opening for us.”
