GP services will continue at centre pledge

-

PATIENTS of Hinckley’s Centre Surgery were reassured about their future care during a dropin session organised by health chiefs.

People had a chance to speak directly to commissioners during the event as the departure date for the current GPs looms.

Dr Solanki and Dr Bagga will end their contract to provide family doctor services at the site off Hill Street at the end of March.

Primary care chiefs at West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the body which plans and pays for the healthcare of Hinckley and Bosworth residents, are taking steps to ensure services are maintained on site up to and after that date.

A spokesman said: “We have started a process to ensure that GP services are maintained in the Centre Surgery in Hinckley, following communication from the current GPs that they will end their contract to provide GP care at the end of March 2017. Everyone had an opportunity at the drop-in session to raise any concerns they may have around the next steps and the long-term future of the practice.

“While Dr Solanki and Dr Bagga have decided to end their contract to provide GP care, it is important for patients to remember that they can continue to use the practice as normal, even after the current contract has ended, as they will still receive care from doctors, nurses and other health professionals from the surgery.”

The drop-in session took place in December at Hinckley Leisure Centre.
