Four goals and three more points for Leicester Road

LEICESTER Road added another three points and four goals to their season’s tally when Bolehall Swifts visted on Saturday.

The game kicked off and Leicester Road began to press forward.

Matty Stenson received the ball and got himself forward facing and threaded the ball through to Amarvir Sandhu to slide the ball home to make it 1-0 after just two minutes.

Leicester Road continued to dominate play keeping possession in the Bolehall half.

On eight minutes Jake Holt finds himself through one-on-one with keeper but could not get his shot in and the chance was gone.

With Leicester Road camped in the Bolehall half the ball dropped to Matty Stenson who volleyed over from just outside the box on 12 minutes. Bolehall started to find their way back into the game and began to thwart Leicester Road’s flowing passing style of play.

Bolehall’s first effort on goal came after 20 minutes following sloppy play in the Leicester Road third by the home team.

Amarvir Sandhu, only just back from a broken leg, was replaced on 33 minutes after picking up a slight knock by Tom McGlinchey.

Leicester Road started to find their way again when Sam Munton put Stenson through on goal but a Bolehall defender appeared to clip his feet.

Officials were not able to react quick enough to the incident and no penalty was awarded.

Leicester Road continued to up the possession and go in 1-0 up at half-time.

The second half started where Leicester Road finished the first with their normal high tempo game.

A Bolehall goal kick was met by skipper Greg Downes who headed straight into the path of Stenson to slide the ball past the advancing Bolehall keeper to make it 2-0 on 59 minutes.

Bolehall went straight back on the offensive from the kick-off forcing Will Highland into a save from point blank range on 62 minutes.

Neil Lyne changed things bringing off Joshua Unsworth and replacing him with Daryl Thomas after 69 minutes.

The change proved to be an instant success as Daryl Thomas broke through and pulled the ball back for Stenson to slide in for his brace and 3-0 to Leicester Road on 71 minutes.

Leicester Road continued to press and Bolehall were reduced to 10 men when Stenson was put through on goal and Bolehall defender Rob Hammond tackled from behind leaving the referee with no alternativ­e but to show a red card on 81 minutes of Hammond’s debut.

Stenson scored from the resulting penalty kick to make it 4-0 and complete his hat-trick on 83 minutes.

Ben Parkinson then replaced the hat-trick hero Stenson on 85 minutes for his first team debut.

Leicester Road finished the game strongly with a clean sheet and a valuable four goals towards their goal tally.
