-

HINCKLEY Ladies A team were away at Rugby Railway to face the only team who have beaten them this season.

Both teams had a firey start and took their chances.

The newly arranged Hinckley defence Nicola Coulson and Alice Roche kept Rugby at bay by making some fantastic interceptions and Hinckley turned over possession by picking up from Rugby mistakes and countering well.

Consistent play and shooting from Hinckley allowed them to pull back Rugby’s lead but the final minutes of the last quarter saw Rugby break away again, resulting in a 46-51 loss for Hinckley Ladies.

Ashleigh Oakes was named player of the match.

Hinckley B started the second half of the season with much needed win against Synergy C.

Both teams went goal for goal initially, ending the first quarter at nine apiece, but in the second quarter some great linking play in centre court, solid defence and super shooting by Hinckley saw them pull away, leading Synergy C by 13 goals at half-time.

Hinckley carried the momentum into the third quarter, turning over loose balls and capitalising on mistakes made by the opposition to get the ball into the goal third, where fantastic shooting by Denise Ibbetson and Darcey Arrowsmith extended Hinckley’s lead to 21 goals.

Synergy C made changes for the final quarter but Hinckley kept their cool and sealed the win with a final score of 50-24.

Player of the match was awarded to GS Denise Ibbetson.

Hinckley C faced Alec High in the wet and windy conditions.

Hinckley D faced Alvis B team needing a win to secure second place position in the division. They started well and took the lead in the first quarter but the Alvis B shooters continued to press.

In the second quarter, Hinckley’s GD was injured, leading to a change of team positions.

Alvis provided a difficult challenge but Hinckley worked swiftly and efficiently to end the game with a 48-37 win.

Shooters Lynda Sanders and Holly Hemsley were named joint POMs.

Hinckley E played Godiva away in their turnaround match of the season.

Hinckley had a poor first quarter, allowing Godiva to take an early 16-5 lead.

A reorganised Hinckley scored nine goals to Godiva’s five in the second quarter and started to close the gap.

They kept a positive attitude and continued to close on Godiva’s lead, getting within four goals at one point and finishing the third quarter 29–23.

Anna Poulson’s efforts as GA earned her the player of the match but Hinckley could not do enough to stop Godiva’s flawless shooter scoring and the home team went on to win the game 39–31.

A determined Hinckley F team met Alvis D at home.

Hinckley quickly took control of the game and thanks to some strong work in centre court gained an early lead. They held on despite Alvis pushing hard to regain control and their hard work was rewarded with their first win of the season and a strong score of 38-6.

Player of the match went to Katie Eaves for some very strong shooting and dynamic moves across the court.
