Salesman is dragged down road in robbery

TWO men have been arrested in connection with a van robbery in Wolvey which left a car salesman with serious injuries.

The victim, a man from North Warwickshi­re, was dragged 10 metres across the floor after being in a collision with the van following a test drive.

He suffered serious injuries to his leg, torso, head and back. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital, Warwickshi­re Police said.

The incident happened on January 17 near Galliford Try Constructi­on, on Leicester Road, Wolvey, at just after 2pm.

Officers arrested two men from Market Harborough on January 19 in connection with the incident.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

They were released on police bail while investigat­ions continue, Warwickshi­re Police said.

Officers appealed for witnesses of anyone with informatio­n to get in touch.

A spokesman said: “Two men from Market Harborough arrested on January 19 in connection with a van robbery in Wolvey on January 17 have been bailed by Warwickshi­re Police while inves- tigations continue.

“A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the incident on Leicester Road, Wolvey, at around 2pm.

“Both men have been bailed by Warwickshi­re Police until February while investigat­ions continue.

“The van was in collision with a man from Warwickshi­re who suffered serious injuries to his leg, torso, head and back. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.”

In a separate incident, the men were later arrested by Leicesters­hire Police on suspi- cion of theft of a motor vehicle in Rushey Mead, Leicester, on January 15.
