Unhappy bin request rejected

-

I HAVE today received a call from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council which I feel needs to be aired to other unsuspecting residents of this borough.

Last week I completed an online application for a larger refuse bin as I have only the smallest bin currently. I assumed (incorrectly now it seems) that this would be a simple request for the council to manage however I am stunned by their response received.

After answering a series of what I deemed to be intrusive questions regards my health and my status I was advised bluntly (and without consideration of my argument) that the current bin was more than adequate for my household, and that I should study my recycling habits more closely, advice on which could be sought on the HBBC website.

Now I’m no fool, I have studied the recycling rules and regulations having been served with a somewhat heavy handed section letter last year (due to one incorrect item in my recycling box) which made me even more aware of how to manage refuse and recycling, the simple fact here is that I have a bin that is not adequate.

I continued to support my request for a larger bin by stating that when the bin has been full I have placed rubbish in a black bin liner and placed on top of the bin for collection, only to find the bag contents all over my garden upon my return home as they have refused to take it.

Mr Inrecycling - yes that was the surname he provided upon request - then continued to talk over me as well as being very rude and sarcastic, not the kind of service you expect as a resident who has paid their dues all their life and who has made a simple request for a larger bin to prevent what could become a health and safety situation.

I think that people of this borough deserve a little more respect and credit from this council, who love to splash the cash on ridiculous white elephant projects yet fail to respond to a simple request for a larger bin. One very angry resident. Lucy Gutteridge
