Duo stage first lunch recital of the season

VIOLINIST and pianist Andrew Rackham and David King will be entertaini­ng concert-goers at the first lunchtime recital of the new St Mary’s Arts (Smarts) season on February 1.

Performing as the King and Rackham Duo, which they formed in 2012, they are promising a programme “of a light classical nature” with some surprises.

It will include Part’s Spiegel im Spiegel, Hungarian Dance No 5 by Brahmms, Anderson’s Blue Tango and Forgotten Dreams, and the Skaters’ Waltz by Waldteufel.

The performanc­e will run from 1pm until about 1.45pm with admission £4 on the door for adults and £1 for children and students.

Season tickets to include the February, March, April and May recitals, will be available for £14.

The King and Rackham perform recitals and concerts throughout the UK and play for private and corporate functions.

Violinist Rackham is founding member of The Swing Museum, a quartet performing Hot Club Swing from the 1930s and 40s and Fosse String Quartet and works on theatre shows, dances and orchestral pieces.

David is an accompiani­st, repetiteur, arranger and musical director who has performed nationwide and given concerts in Belgium, France and Germany.

Hot drinks will be available from the church coffee bar and lunches may be taken and eaten in the church before or after the performanc­e.
