Knife robbers threaten driver and steal van

-

ROBBERS threatened a van driver at knife point in Ellistown before stealing his vehicle.

The driver was confronted in Kendal Road by two men who demanded the keys to the white Volkswagen Transporter at 11am on January 18.

When he initially refused to hand over the keys, one of the men threatened him with a knife, Leicestershire Police said.

The 30-year-old victim passed over the keys and the two men made off in the van in the direction of Ibstock Road.

The van was found abandoned later the same day in Bakers Field Close, Ibstock.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Leicestershire Police are appealing for information on the armed robbery.

PC Kevin Sharkey said: “Were you in the area of Kendal Road at the time of the incident? Did you see a white van being driven or abandoned on Bakers Field Close?

“In particular we are keen to speak to the driver of a dark coloured saloon that left the scene of the incident shortly after the robbery, they may have important information that could help with our enquiries.”

The two suspects were white, wearing dark clothing and one was wearing a blue jacket.

Both had their faces covered by scarves and hats. One of the men is believed to be 6ft tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 17*24805.
