Volunteer talk for the NHS
PEOPLE pondering a commitment to making a difference in the health service can hear first hand about volunteering in Leicester’s hospitals.
The next Marvellous Medicine talk at Leicester General will feature the day to day activities of a hospital volunteer.
Focusing on the frontline roles of greeting patients and transporting them between departments the talk will be given by Alison Reynolds, the trust’s volunteer services co-ordinator. It takes place tonight from 6pm to 8pm in the lecture theatre at the Clinical Education Centre.
Alison said: “Some of our most visible volunteers are those who take on our meet and greet and buggy driving role and are often the first people that patients and visitors see when arriving at our hospitals. Come and hear about the difference these volunteers make to our services and our patients.”
The Marvellous Medicine talks run monthly and offer an insight into medical specialities with an opportunity to experience what is at the forefront of medicine in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The sessions are free and are open to all.
There is no need to book a place just go along on the day. For more information contact the patient and public involvement and membership office by email at MembershipDesk@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or on 0116 258 8592.
