A SEASON of fun, games, live music and guided walks is on offer at Hollycroft Park where the volunteer Friends group has drawn up a packed programme of events running from April to November.

The season will start with a join-in gardening session at the beginning of April and the park’s popular plant swap on April 15 which will help to raise funds for the Friends’ planned activities.

Ratby Mid Band will perform the first free Sunday concert of the year on April 30, with other big bands, cover bands, groups, duos and a choir taking to the stage monthly until September.

History walks, introduced in 2016, will be held again, giving people the chance to find out about the origins of the well-used Hinckley green space which was officially opened as a pubic park in 1930s.

A variety night on July 14 prom- ises to be a dramatic delight with songs and sketches from the Stanley Opera and the New Theatre Players.

And highlight of the year will be a Sunday Funday on August 6, building on the inaugural event held two years ago to mark the park’s 80th anniversary.

Xplorer sessions, offering fun family orienteering challenges led by a team from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, will run monthly from the end of March and include special sessions for Easter, halloween and Christmas.

The park is managed by the borough council and is home to Hinckley bowls and tennis clubs, with many community events hosted and run by the Friends group, which is an independent registered charity.
