Will Smith is the hero as Bosworth score late on in match

- Market Bosworth 7 Southall 0

AFTER a two week rest with no league action, Market Bosworth really showed that statistics alone can not be relied on.

In a pulsating game the visitors from Southall, second in the league, against home side Bosworth, second from bottom in the league, were given a big shock.

It appeared from the visi- tor’s casual approach to the pre-match warm up that they considered the game to be a walk in the park but from the kick off they were under pressure.

For the first 10 minutes of the game Bosworth pinned down Southall in their own 22, coming close to scoring several times, only failing by the actions of a desperate defence.

Bosworth continued this attack for another 10 minutes and it was only then that Southall were able to cross into the Bosworth half for the first time.

Just once in the first half Southall came anywhere near scoring when they won a Bosworth line-out and got as far as the 22 and were awarded a penalty from which they developed a rolling maul but infringed and Bosworth were able to make the clearance.

Half-time came with no points on the board for either team.

The second half continued in the same vein with both sides playing their hearts out trying to cross the line and break the duck.

Players were dropping like flies due to exhaustion and cramp and with spectators thinking they were about to witness the first nilnil draw of their lifetime Bosworth created a final attack by mounting several rolling mauls to and fro across the Southall line eventually being successful when Will Smith dived over under the posts.

Rich Harris duly converted leaving just four minutes for Bosworth to hold on and produce more excellent defensive work to keep Southall at bay until the final whistle when it finished Market Bosworth.
