A POLICE helicopter and dog unit swooped on Barwell yesterday to hunt for three men after a man was found injured in his home.

A 51-year-old man was found hurt in his home in St Mary’s Court and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His injuries have been described as not life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “Police were called at about 11.15am this morning (Tuesday) to reports that a man had been injured after three men entered his property in Barwell.

“Officers attended an address in St Mary’s Court and a 51-year-old man was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“It is not believed that anything was taken in the incident. Enquiries are in their early stages.

“The area has been cordoned off while investigations are carried out.”

The men had not been found, at the time of going to press.

One resident of St Mary’s Court, who had gone out midmorning, described arriving home at around 11am to see “four or five police cars” in the cul de sac, with a police helicop- ter overhead.

He said police dog handlers and other police vehicles were also involved in the operation throughout the day.
