High praise for school’s progress
Good rating by Ofsted
A PRIMARY school in Stoney Stanton has been praised for its progress as Ofsted inspectors rated it as ‘good’ earlier this year.
Manorfield CE Primary School made “significant improvements” following its previous inspection in 2015.
At that time a report said that improvements needed to be made at the school.
However, inspectors visited last month and were left impressed.
They said: “The headteacher, ably supported by senior leaders, has taken effective action to improve the quality of teaching since the previous inspection.
“As a result, pupils are now making good progress in reading, writing and mathematics.”
The report also praised the “very positive relationships between staff and pupils in the school”, as well as the “high quality of questioning by teachers and teaching assistants in class”.
It also recognised how “pupils behave well and are confident and selfassured”.
Parents also feel that the school is well-led and that pupils are well taught and cared for by staff, feeling safe both in and around the school.
A very high percentage of parents would recommend the school to other parents the report recorded.
Headteacher Felicity Clarke said: “I am so pleased that the hard work from all involved at the school has been recognised.
“I am excited about continuing the journey forward with the school and community.”
Kathryn Bullock, chair of governors, added: “The report clearly recognises the strong teamwork in Manorfield School between the leadership team, Governors, staff, pupils and parents.
“We are very proud of the progress the school has made in recent years and it is a privilege to be a part of it.”
