Enough of this hyperbole
WHY is it that there are individuals in the Brexit debate, such as Hunt Saboteur and Shy Fox before him (R.I.P.) who insist on pitching their arguments at the extreme ends of the argument? Things aren’t only black and white - there are many shades of grey in between (as many as 50, I’m told) and the debate should take place within those civilised environs, remote from the hyperbolical venom about stupid pensioners with dementia, etc.
So, instead of replying to last week’s lyrical musings in kind, I would like to engage Hunt Saboteur in an interesting matter, which is related to the forthcoming negotiations on Brexit.
Some EU leaders have said that the UK cannot be allowed to be better off as a result of leaving. It is assumed that what they mean by this is that if we did leave the EU, but nevertheless managed to gain access to the single market without penalty, then the UK would actually be at an advantage compared to our current membership state.
If this is indeed the case, then does this not mean that Mrs. May is correct in her negotiating strategy?
Not only that, but it also poses the question as to why ALL of the EU nations don’t leave the EU, and form a free trade area without the trappings of a bureaucratic EU political construct. They would all, apparently, be better off. Europhile
