Questionnaire on village growth to be sent to all households
VILLAGERS in Desford are urged to take the chance to shape the future of their community.
A questionnaire asking for opinions on growth and development in the area is being sent out to all households.
The results will feed in to the burgeoning Desford Parish Neighbourhood Plan.
Organised by the parish council and a team of ‘working party’ volunteers the plan process was launched in November 2015.
Public exhibitions have followed but this will be the first major interactive element where every person in the village gets a chance to air their views.
The questionnaires will be collected in the week starting March 27 or can be dropped into Desford library.
A spokesman said: “A neighbourhood plan provides the opportunity for communities to provide a positive vision for how they want their neighbourhood to develop over the next 10, 15 or 20 years.
“It is a massively influential document that means your community can choose where new homes, shops and offices are built, and have your say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided to support them.”
As an additional incentive to participate people who complete the questionnaire will be entered into a prize draw.
After the responses are collated the working group will recruit independent consultants to seek out and analyse relevant information about any issues of concern.
All this information will go into building a draft plan which will the go through further stages of consultation and approval.
