Carpentry master is first in the Midlands
THE BUILDING company owned by Triumph motorcycles boss John Bloor is celebrating the arrival of its first carpentry apprentice master in the Midlands.
Bloor Homes, which is behind a major new estate planned for fields opposite the bike factory on Normandy Way, Hinckley, now has dedicated woodwork teaching experts across its seven regions.
Martin Stain, 45, a former lecturer at Walsall College, is the man in charge of imparting knowledge of all things carpentry for Bloor developments across the area.
Currently he is based at the burgeoning Bramcote Manor site near Wolvey and is overseeing the progress of first year carpentry apprentice Dan Stokes.
Martin said: “My role is completely dedicated to teaching the apprentices, which means they get my undivided attention when I am on site, enabling me to contin- ually monitor their progress and offer support and advice whenever they need it.
“Getting young people on site and physically crafting products is the best way to get them ready for professional work and it’s a great feeling to be teaching them the trade.
“Apprenticeship schemes like this are so important to the future of housebuilding and I’m proud to be doing my part as Bloor Homes’ carpentry apprentice master for the Midlands region.
Bloor recruited bricklaying apprentice masters in 2014 and since then its apprenticeship programme has gone from strength to strength.
March 6 to 10 is National Apprenticeship Week.
