Hickey hat-trick gives Canaries an easy victory

-

A STRONG experienced Barwell side had too much power for the youthful Skelmersdale side and in the end it was no surprise that the maturity prospered.

The star of the match was undoubtable Barwell’s Brady Hickey who bagged a hat-trick and could easily have given Barwell a 6-0 scoreline but for a fine performance by home goalkeeper Joe Hilton.

Hickey opened the scoring in the eighth minute, as Callum Ball headed a cross back into the goalmouth where the livewire made no mistake.

In the 14th minute Hickey struck again, as a loose ball allowed Ball an excellent cross for the striker to steer from close range.

Skelmersdale had their chances on 24 minutes, a terrific piece of control by Remy Howarth at the far post saw him follow up with a shot that Barwell galkeeper Laim Castle saved with his foot.

Hickey completed his hat-trick after 53 minutes heading home an excellent cross from Ball.

The fourth Barwell goal arrived in the 63rd minute when Luke Barlone stabbed the ball into the net at the near post via a Nigel Julien cross.

And there was to be a fifth goal as Ball ran onto a long punt forward and fired first time into the bottom corner.

Brady Hickey was named man of the match in a highly-entertaining game.
