WI taking a glance back

AT the March meeting of Burbage WI members were entertained by Michael Arkle with his talk Rural Bygones.

He brought along a articles from the past, talked about their uses and invited members to identify them which provided some varied answers.

A competition for an unusual item was won by Elizabeth Davis.

Plans were made for future outings for visits to a village garden, bowls at Barwell and a tour of Brooksby College.

The Denman College bursery for 2017 was won by Stella Moore. The following day members attended the WI County Annual Meeting in Leicester when the guest speaker was historian Lucy Adlington.

Burbage WI next meet at Grove Road Infants School on Friday April 7 at 7.30pm and the subject will be Beginners Upholstery. New members welcome.
