Village gets web boost

VIRGIN Media has completed works to install “ultrafast” broadband in Ratby.

The final fibre optic cables were laid in Station Road, Chapel Lane and Main Street last week.

The village was selected as one of 10 areas in the UK to receive faster connectivity after a public vote.

Paul Buttery, chief operating officer at Virgin Media, said: “This is truly people-powered connectivity.

“The collective support and demand from across the UK has exceeded our expectations and we’re delighted to be supercharging these 10 areas with ultrafast fibre broadband.”

Leicestershire County Council apologised for the disruption caused during the work.
