Wide loads on local roads

DRIVERS were warned to expect delays as two wide loads passed through Hinckley last Wednesday.

But despite the jumbo loads which made their way around the town, expected delays did not materialise.

The vehicles were escorted by police to ensure safety as they travelled along the A47 Normandy Way and the A5 as part of a route through the county.

The two loads of wooden boxes followed a route along the A563 skirting around Leicester, onto the A47 through Hinckley then the A5 towards Lutterworth and the A426 before heading back onto the A5.
