Music night at town pub supports minibus appeal

-

MUSICAL friends held an open mic night to raise money for a new minibus for a care service for young people with special needs.

The event at The Greyhound pub on New Buildings, Hinckley, raised more than £163 for Hinckley-based Diverse and Unique Care.

It was organised by Burbage singer and guitarist Michael Hanson and held in the pub’s function room, which was hired out for free to support the cause.

Money was raised by a raffle and will be added to by a collection held on the night.

Mr Hanson, who used to perform with a capella group Tuxedo Junction, was joined by a line-up of Leicestershire talent including Eddie Hall, Steve Faulkner, Andrew Jnr, Acapella Fellahs, Sophie Percival, Lewis Ward, Glenn Brown, roger Woodward, Rob Thomas, and Alex Blankley and Peter Walford, known as the Acoustic 80s.

Diverse and Unique Care is run by Jackie Millerchip, who was named ITV’s Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2012.

It needs to replace its current minibus which is likely to fail its next MoT test without expensive work.

The specially adapted vehicle is used to pick up and drop off young people cared for by the service and to take them out and about.

Anyone willing to donate to the minibus appeal or who may have a suitable minibus for sale is asked to call Jackie on 07528 155715.
