Mum launches wedding service

BRITAIN’S smallest mum is hoping to make a big impression in the wedding fairs business.

Amanda Moore, 32, of Hinckley, was catapulted into the national spotlight seven years ago.

A rare bone disease meant she stands at 3ft 1in tall. Even at her wedding her young son Aidan towered over her.

Amanda has osteogenesis imperfecta, known as brittle bone disorder.

She was born with 14 broken bones and resigned herself to never having children because experts feared her tiny frame could not cope with a pregnancy.

But she accidentally fell pregnant and defied doctors’ advice to have an abortion.

Two years ago, she and long-term partner Steven Fyfe, 27, the father of eight-year-old Aidan, decided to marry.

Their wedding, in the glorious setting of Normanton Church on the shores of Rutland Water, which Amanda organised, inspired her to get involved in the wedding business.

Amanda said: “I enjoyed organising my own wedding so much that I thought about becoming a wedding planner, but that would have involved a lot of travelling and I don’t drive.

“Wedding fairs are the next best thing because I can do most of the organisation from home.”

The first event for her Elegance of Happiness business, held at The Green Room, in Hinckley, in August, attracted 25 exhibitors and 70 brides-to-be.

She has four more fairs this year, including one on March 19 at College Court Leicester, and her biggest yet, at the King Power Stadium, in Leicester, in September.

Amanda said: “First, I find the venue to hold the fair and invite exhibitors to see if they want to work with me.

“They seem to have been pleased with the outcome so far and more exhibitors are lining up to take part in this year’s fairs.”

The fairs attract traditional wedding gown and accessories suppliers, photographers, videographers, cake makers and designers as well as magicians, balloon artists and suppliers of white doves.

Amanda said: “I’ve recently spoken to a company in Majorca which arranges weddings abroad which will be providing a virtual exhibition at one of my fairs.

“I try to keep the exhibitors pretty local. We have some coming from places like Hereford, but they’re mainly from Leicestershire.”
