Reid Room honours villager

-

A LONG-SERVING councillor and community ambassador is being honoured in Barlestone.

The main room of the Pavilion at the village’s Bosworth Road Sports Ground is to be named The Reid Room in tribute to villager David Reid, who has been serving the community for more than 40 years.

Now aged in his late 80s, Mr Reid recently retired from Barlestone Parish Council, on which he served as chairman.

He also represented Barlestone on a Parish Councils Association, helping to secure new amenities for the village, including an extension to the village school and the pavilion itself.

A brass plaque, which is to be put up in recognition of his contribution, was first presented to Mr Reid by current Parish Council Chairman David Burchell, before being fixed in place.
