BOSWORTH’S MP has spoken of his shock at the terrorist attack on the Houses of Parliament which left four dead and dozens injured.

David Tredinnick was at the Commons on Wednesday when the horrifying incident occurred.

Walking between buildings at the time, he saw through a window what looked like a group of youngsters running down an embankment.

Initially he thought they were ‘larking about’ but soon realised something more sinister was occurring.

Mr Tredinnick, a former Grenadier Guard, said: “I was just walking across from my office to the main chamber for the division (a Parliamentary vote) which had just been called and as I walked past a window I saw some chil- dren running and thought they were having a game.

“Then just as I went by a security officer I heard on his radio ‘a man is dead on the bridge’. I then realised we had terrorist attack or some other kind of very difficult situation going on.”

As per well practised procedure Mr Tredinnick returned to his office to await further news.

He said despite some reports to the contrary there was no panic.

“The procedures in Parliament worked well. There are about 4,000 people on the Parliamentary estate and everyone was very calm, it was not chaotic.

“We were told to stay in our offices until late in the evening when we were then released in groups to go home.

“I think we were all shocked by it and of course our hearts and thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones, in particular the family of the police officer who gave his ment.”

Mr Tredinnick was back in the House on Thursday where a minute’s silence was observed. He said it was ‘business as usual’ and he fully intended to keep his constituency commitments, includ- life protecting Parlia-
