Glamping venue in line for top award
A GLAMPING hideout in Osbaston has been named as one of the finalists in the VisitEngland awards for Excellence.
The Dandelion Hideaway, a farm holiday with a glamping twist, has been revealed as one of three finalists in the newly-created category of Glamping Provider of the Year for the awards, which are the most prestigious in English tourism.
The hideaway offers guests to stay in what the owners call canvas cottages, with a real touch of luxury such as en-suite bathrooms with roll-top baths.
The six canvas cottages are filled with nostalgic touches and country house design, with each containing a double bedroom, twin room and cabin bedroom. The Blue- bells also boasts a hot tub.
The Dandelion Hideaway has previously won Bronze (2014, 2015) and Highly Commended (2016) in VisitEngland’s Self Catering Accommodation category, competing with traditional holiday cottages.
This new category reflects the growing national popularity of ‘glamping’ and The Dandelion Hideaway will compete against Longlands in the South West and Secret Meadows from the East of England.
Sharon Earp, from The Dandelion Hideaway, said: “We are delighted to be chosen as a national finalist for Glamping Provider of the Year. We will be proudly flying the flag for Leicestershire, as well as agriculture and farming, at the awards ceremo- ny in London.”
VisitEngland Chief Executive Sally Balcombe said: “The awards shine a spotlight on an industry driven by the highest-calibre people and organisations who deliver unforgettable experiences for visitors, raising the profile of England as a worldclass destination and driving the economic benefits of tourism across the regions.”
The awards, now in their 28th year, recognise and congratulate those businesses and individuals from across England who champion the very best practice and excellence in customer service.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday April 24 at the Hilton Waldorf, London.
