Final chance to get on electoral roll
LAST calls are being made to encourage people to register to vote with county and some parish seats set for elections this May.
Registrations have to be made by April 13 to have the right to vote in the Leicestershire County Council elections being held on May 4.
Particularly people who have moved house might be unaware they will need to re-register at their new address.
Election teams at Hinckley and Bos- worth Borough Council are urging everyone to make sure they are registered to ensure their views are heard through local representatives.
A spokesman said: “Once elected, county councillors will be involved in making decisions about how the services the council provides are delivered during the next four years.
“It is common for people to think that because they are registered with council tax they are also registered to vote but this is not the case and voter registration has to be done separately.”
Residents can register to vote or update their details online at www. gov.uk/register-to-vote. Or call the electoral services office directly on Hinckley 255830/255835.
People will need to provide their date of birth and their National Insurance number. The deadline for new applications to vote by post or proxy and to change existing postal or proxy votes is 5pm on April 18
