Bird’s eye view of show on offer

VISITORS to the 128th Market Bosworth Country Show will be given the chance of getting a bird’s eye view of this year’s popular summer event.

Helicopter rides will be offered at the show, organised by the Market Bosworth Agricultur­al, Horticultu­ral and Equestrian Society, which will be held at The Park in Market Bosworth on Sunday July 2.

The special attraction, courtesy of Turweston Helicopter­s, will give visitors the chance to take to the skies above the showground and surroundin­g countrysid­e, for a fee of £45 per person on the day or £40 if pre-booked online.

For those preferring to remain on terra firma the show will be busier than ever, with arena displays from the Kangaroo Kid Quad Bike Stunt Show team, falconry and dog obedience demonstrat­ions as well as displays by assistance dogs trained by Canine Partners.

There will also be animals and reptiles to pet.

Vintage tractors and farm machinery will be on display and there will be classes for heavy horses, side-saddle riding and Hereford cattle, with sheep and pigs also back in the show after a break.

Country crafts will be demonstrat­ed, including wickerwork and coracle making, plus chainsaw sculpting and have-a-go archery.

A schedule of classes for entries in the floral marquee is available online as are appliction forms for trade and craft stands, which are filling up fast.

Tickets bought online before June 2 will cost £4 for children and senior citizens, £7 for adults and £16 for a family of two adults and two children.

Tickets bought after then or on the day will cost £5, £8 and £20 respective­ly.

All profits will be donated to the Nuneaton-based Mary Ann Evans Hospice.
