Beauty student bags coveted spa spot

-

A HINCKLEY beauty therapy student has received official acclaim and bagged herself a new job at a prestigious Leicestershire spa resort.

Alicia Penney, aged 21, was named Student of Excellence by Ragdale Hall following a series of challenges.

Alicia, who is currently studying the Level 3 beauty therapy course at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, was pitted against 11 other finalists from across the region.

As part of the competition she had to undertake a theory exam, interview and perform a manicure and body massage treatment.

Her prize includes a fulltime position at Ragdale Hall including a two-year training plan, substantial cash bonus after her first year in employment and a spa day voucher.

Alicia said: “I’m ecstatic to have won as the standard was really high and the competition was nerve-wracking - but I did enjoy it. Looking around I could see all the girls competing were very skilled so I knew I had to try extra hard but I’d practised and prepared so much I knew I’d done my best on the day.

“Even though we were all competing against each other, all the girls were very friendly and it’s been great to meet like-minded people as we all want to be the best we can be and successful in our careers in beauty.”

Alicia has coveted a role at Ragdale Hall ever since visited with her mum and sister when she was 16.

Ragdale’s Student of Excellence competition was introduced last year and is exclusive to 25 colleges which are asked to put forward their best students to showcase their practical skills.
