AN INFORMAL event to highlight the role of foster carers has been organised by Leicestershire County Council.

It is one of numerous regular sessions the county puts on to try and swell the number of people agreeing to take in children who are victims of broken families.

The event takes place from 6.15pm to 8pm on Thursday April 20 at County Hall in Glenfield. Current carers and officers from the council’s foster team will be there.

A spokesman said: “Every year foster carers retire or their circumstances change, so the county council is always actively looking for new people to come forward.”
