Medium wins award
HINCKLEY’S National Spiritualist Church has been named runner-up in a regional Church of the Year competition.
The contest, which covered spiritualist churches across the West Midlands, was run by the Sally Ferguson Trust, a charity that offers grants primarily to spiritualist churches.
Churches were judged on services held, including spiritual healing, as well as spiritual and social events, and community involvement.
A prize of a certificate and book voucher was presented to the Station Road church’s president Sue Corbett who said: “We were so close to winning.”
In the same competition, the Hinckley church’s vice president, international medium Mark Brandist was named Spiritualist of the Year and was presented with an engraved silver plate and a cheque.
Sue Corbett said: “This award recognises all the work that Mark does up and down the country and abroad, as a medium, bringing messages from the spirit world and also the many hours that he voluntarily gives to Myton Hospice, not forgetting all the work that he does for our church.
“Mark is a genuine person who works from the heart, with love and compassion, bringing joy, laughter and hope to all he meets.”
